Good insight Abs. One thing I think is so important to remember when receiving gifts, some people are gifted at gift giving, they have a natural generousity and give in abundance because they love giving gifts. I am one of those people. I love giving gifts and believe it is a spiritual gift given by the Lord.

I know what you mean.
I stuggle with this too.
I have been trying really hard to live by: if you get it out, you put it away, and never leave a room empty handed. I've also get my children to help tidy up their toys. this is done 3 times a day. Try a basket down stairs that washing gets put in as it gets created then just grabbing the basket and taking it upstairs. I have just started doing this in my lounge where I get my toddlers dressed. Sort out mail as you collect it, throw mailers out as they come in if you know you'll never buy from that shop this week.
I can seem to keep everywhere else tidy but my bedroom is the messy room. Man I dread going in there.

Abby,
You don't know how your post has encouraged me...
My husband feels called to minister. My heart hurts when I see poverty. Like many, I want to make it disappear, I want to hide in a bubble of affluence, like most of us do, because it's all so overwhelming.
The blog I linked to on TW, Katieskisses, has been a huge encouragement. In one of her posts, she writes about how important it is to show love to those who have never been loved by anyone, so they can actually understand the concept before you can tell them that God loves them. To me, evangelism and practical help go hand in hand. Jesus healed the sick, provided food, he cared for those he encountered.

My husband sees the masses of people dying without Jesus, and I see the masses of people dying for lack of what we have too much of. Food, medicine, education... Both go hand in hand.

Personally, I think God has put these people on your heart, and ministering to them in the way they need it is being Jesus' hands to them.

Hugs, sister,

Ruth

Hi Abby,
I came over here from TW, to find that we have something in common! I also do pilates, and I also find it strangely calming and invigorating (when I do it in the morning). There's something about it, having to concentrate in order to do it right, the graceful harmony of the movements..
I got a stability ball and a mat for my birthday and I'm really enjoying a good stability ball workout on friday or saturday evenings, when I have a little more time.

Do you use videos? I've found the workouts from www.ultimatepilatesworkouts.com very useful. You can watch them on your computer/laptop for free, download them for a few dollars, or pay a monthly fee that allows you to download a few per month. The instructors are a little bit chatty, you kind of get the feeling like you are in a class.

What are some of your favorite exercises? can you tell I love pilates... lol!

Unlike you, though, I have body issues. Exercising makes me feel better.

Hi Abby,

This is my first time to your blog but feel as if I "know" you from the True Womanhood blog. I am a frequent lurker and occasional commenter there.

I wanted to say something on this post. I agree with you 100%!! When you protect your children to the level that many super conservative families tend to, you are taking away their story. The pains and lessons that make them who they will be one day. I am so thankful that my parents had the faith in the Lord to allow me to learn and grow no matter how painful.

Allow me to be Sheldon for a moment.
With corn I have learned from those in the know, that you need quite a bit planted to get them going.
Some berries need male and female plants to take off.
Lemon Verbena will need to come in some and I read that it may look like it has died mid-winter but give it a chance cause it sort of hibernates.
My cumin took forever to grow and squirrels got to most of it. I am going to look into soil requirements for that. I will let you know.
